Where in the World is FBC

Dear Church Family,
Have you ever tracked a moving dot on a map? Perhaps in your car’s GPS, or on the little screen in an airplane?
Last Friday I was tracking my husband’s little “dot” on Google Maps to see where he—and 49 other team mates from FBC and UCC—were as they made their way back over the border from Mexico where they had spent a week partnering with churches there. An hour later, I switched to another App on my phone where I got messages from FBC global workers in North Africa and the Middle East. My mental “google earth” map plotted their dots, too. FBC has people all over the world.
Fun GO Word #1:
Global workers is our preferred term for missionaries, if you’re curious. It is both safer for those who work in sensitive countries and hopefully also reflects a move away from culturally insensitive, icky, colonialist meanings.
FBC Davis is a local church, but we have always had a global heart: God loves this world and wants to reach it. If our loves and wants are aligned with his, that means we pray, give, send and go accordingly. Those little “dots” on the map represent the places we get to partner with what God is doing! Our FBC Global Outreach (GO) Team supports and stays connected with FBC global workers, as well as advising and supporting our more local, short term trips. This coming weekend, two of our Global Workers will be at FBC to say hello and to help debrief our team returning from Mexico. Make sure to say Hi!
Fun GO word #2:
Debriefing is intentionally processing through life experiences to discover and keep the valuable while also releasing the unhelpful or hurtful to the LORD.
So, in addition to the fun new words, what’s this email about?
To introduce the GO team to you: to pray, cheer on, and maybe even join? Curious to know more? Send a message to our office: info@fbcdavis.org
To thank you for the ways you prayed for the Mexico team.
To let you know about another amazing opportunity to partner with some of our GO team in late July in Chico, CA. They support missionary families staying healthy as they serve long term cross-culturally by providing debriefing opportunities (like they’re doing for our teens!) for global workers and their children. They’ll be working with the adults and are looking to train people mature in their faith who are good with kids to help the kids process their experiences. Want to know more? Chat with them this Sunday or email our office about getting in contact (info@fbcdavis.org). This is a way to serve those who are serving long term… within driving distance!
To invite you to consider a 10 day trip to partner with one of our global worker teams in the Middle East in October 2025. We’ll have a short interest meeting right after the service on April 27th to share more info. Got questions? Email me :)
These are just a few ways to celebrate and support FBC’s “dots” on the map. Thank you. Join us? And… let’s GO!
